Between 1886-1903 Charles Booth made a survey into life and labour in London, which created a detailed colour-coded map of London Poverty. The maps were compiled from interviews with Londoners from all walks of life, eyewitness descriptions of the city street by street, and the raw data that was later used to compile statistical reports. Between June - July 2005 I showed a class at Loughborough Primary School copies of the original maps stored at the archive in the Minet Library as well as other maps and Photographs from that time. The children then split into 8 groups and began to map the area surrounding the school making audio recordings of what they saw and interviews with local people.
