In 1872 the firm acquired the land previously held by the Royal Female Orphan Asylum and by 1874 the factory and mills were erected to the design of Messrs. Parr & Strong at a cost of almost £15,000. The building became known as the 'Wellington Mills'. Christ Church can be seen on the right. From 'Oakey Abrasives & Polishes'. (12/64)
