Lambeth is and was a remarkable place and this is reflected in the extraordinary range of buildings and architecture that have been put up in the borough. Some glories are still there: Lambeth Palace, Brockwell Hall and the South Bank can still be visited.

But so much that has physically disappeared can now be found on Landmark. The green fields and farm houses of the 18th century; the mean streets that were submerged under Waterloo Station and the Albert Embankment in the 19th century; the acres of terraced housing that were destroyed in the Blitz and post-war redevelopments; they are all here.

This is quite literally the 'place' to search for pictures of a building, a street or an area of Lambeth. The drop down menu gives you a set of local area names to search within; or put in the street name you are looking for under Image Title. As an alternative you can use the Maps facility to search by postcode or by council ward.
